Indian 2009 elections just concluded, and the congress came out victorious. A lot has changed this time, BJP lost a lot of seats, left lost almost two third of their seats and many more ups and downs happened. Lets discuss some reasons why BJP lost this election.
- Muslim voters – Modi, varun Gandhi, Advani etc. are just enough reasons why Non-Hundu’s won’t vote for BJP. Varun Gandhi’s speech was too far really, the kind of language he used and the attitude was a good enough reason why even most of the Hindu’s are going against him.
- Swiss bank – So you thought just the politicians had funds in the Swiss bank, no, all these corrupt government officials the big and small business men, and many others keep their money in the Swiss bank. So they all decided to vote against BJP. Yeah, atleast they will now sleep in peace, money comes first.
- Facilities – the poor in India dosenot care much about who is going to come in power, they are more interested in the subsidies that they get, the low taxes they pay or the reservations they get from congress.
- Poor untargeted advertisement – I have already discussed how the untargeted ads of BJP and Advani on the net take away their reputation.
- Advani in place of Atal – Atal Bihari Vajpayee has always been a star attraction in BJP and always looked as a good prime ministerial candidate. Advani just looks out of place as far as the post of prime minister is considered.
- Kicking youth – Youth of India has little interest in the caste or religion; they are interested in open-minded thoughts. If the Hindu groups kick their ass in the pub then it’s likely that the youth will vote for congress.
- Being in power – congress was in power and they did an over all good job, though Manmohan Singh always looks too quiet for a post like this, and always remains behind Sonia Gandhi, still he has not done anything too bad and may be his qualifications did backed him for being a prime minister.
- Relying on aggression – aggression is a thing of the past. If you come out banging you will only find a wall. May be the Indian of this day wants peace till the last breadth. So BJP being an aggressive party did not come out to be favorites.
- The attack on Mumbai – terrorists attack on Mumbai shocked everyone, and the slow reaction of government, during and after the incident shocked even more. But this actually turned out to be a positive thing for congress, as many people believed that congress has actually handled the situation very nicely and avoided a much likely India-Pakistan war.
- They didn’t have my vote – I could not vote, however with all the high volume speeches of Varun Gandhi, it was very unlikely they would have got my vote this time.
My second choice is the left, but even they did not deserve my vote this time. I will make another post for left; they had enough reasons to find them in the condition that they are now.

Congress as usual has support from the biased media like NDTV ,CNN IBM,Times now who have their bosses sitting outside our country and they never want us to be be rules by the nationalist people.Indian voter has not been stategic to understand the devide and rule policies of congress ,which they have done in Mumbai by having secret ballot agreement with Raj thakerey otherwise these are the people who actually intigate attacks on outsiders and then don’t take action.BJP has failed to expose congress and their lack of will made congress (corruption )
Dear sir,
In my opinion BJP lost because of LK ADVANIJI.If BJP had projected Narendre Modi as PM during election against Man mohan Singh definitely BJP must be ruling in the center Today 18/12/2010.Normally Congress never project PM during election except for last LOK SABHA ELECTION.
One more thing i would like to share that their should not be internal politics (WITHIN) Party,if someone is very aggressive he should not be stopped by and be asked to go slow, rather Party should allow him to fly as fast as possible to bring BJP party ahead of all party. He must be promoted to higher level in party posting.
This are my personal VIEWS.
