A trip to Bodhgaya

Bodhgaya the place where Bhagwan Buddha got knowledge. The place is situated near Gaya situated in Bihar. The place has spiritual and religious importance and is visited by Buddhists all over the world. It’s a peaceful and beautiful place with international fame.

A visit to Bodhgaya is very different as the place is very peaceful. The place is filled up with Buddhist monks from many countries such as Japan, Myanmar, Bhutan etc. The most famous place in Bodhgaya is Maha Bodhi temple, which is huge structure, located in the heart of the city. It has huge statues of lord Buddha. The painting sculpture and other features of the temple is very attractive. The features of bhagwan Buddha are shown towards his reaching of enlightenment. His different Mudras are shown in a very good manner with minute details and changes. There is huge tree just behind the temple and it is said that lord get the Gyan below the tree and the tree is considered very sacred. People are eager to collect the leaf of the tree. Many tourists meditate below the tree. It is said that the path used by Buddha after getting knowledge and wisdom is converted into lotus. So there are lotuses being made. There is a beautiful lake, garden and other places to see inside the temple premises. There is lot of decoration at the time of Maha Bodhisattva festival.

The place unique fact is that it is felt that place is very sacred so people of different countries have made their temples at these places. There is a huge bell like structure, which is to be rotated. The place has huge Budha Statues. Lot of colorful paintings showing different stories related to the life of Budha is also shown. Prayers are sung by monks. Such a great mixture of so many different communities and countries are a pleasure to the eye of the tourists especially the Indians. Its rare thing to get such diversity in India. The place has Chinese temple, which follow the Chinese customs and rituals. The monks do a lot of research, study and meditation. They wear religious clothes and are very helpful with tourists. They share their preaching’s. There are temples of other countries also such as Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Myanmar, Indonesia, Nepal and other Buddhist following countries. There is lot of differences in the architecture of different temples so there is lot to compare among them. What is strange is the fact that in spite of so many differences the place is very much intact and all are interrelated.

There are many hotels in and around the city of all ranges. The food quality is also good. There is also the huge statue of sitting Budha along with his disciples. There are also markets selling goods from different countries. Meditation helps a lot to relax mental tension and give energy and confidence. One can take meditation classes in the city. Around the Mahabodi temple is beautiful platform to walk during night. The place is visited by many tourists from all over the world.

Near Bodhgaya is a huge city called Gaya well known for its Food item called ‘khaja’. The place is also known for the Famous ‘pind dan’. People from all over the country come down for the famous puja at gaya. There are other places also situated in Bihar such as Rajgir and Nalanda, which can also be visited along with Bodhgaya.
