Article 377 – Government Leaves Gay Sex Decision on Supreme Court

Divided Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh decided not to interfere with the decision of Court and left the gay sex issue to Supreme Court, which will deal with it on October 1. Delhi High Court had earlier made the gay sex legal by lifting certain things from the article 377 that made homosexuality ok in India. Government has done the right thing by not messing into this delicate issue of homosexuality, which has both big support and disagreement throughout India and world.

Though nothing much came out of the meeting as no decision were taken on the gay issue, however the cabinet decided that G Vahanvati, the attorney general, will assist the supreme court. Ambika Soni, the union information and broadcasting minister was further asked a lot of questions on which she replied that the supreme court can decide on weather high court was right or wrong on the decision of decriminalizing homo-sexuality.

Apparently, the gay sex activists are happy with the current decision of the government, and says that it will help their case in the supreme court. Thinking from the gay activist’s point of view, the current government’s stand of no decision actually puts no stay on the Delhi high court’s decision, which is a positive decision for the gay activists.

What’s your opinion on this, do you agree with the phrase, “Gay is the new black”!
