Haryana Candidate wants Condom as Election Symbol

Haryana based social activist Anand Prakash Sharma, a 45 year old guy, basically a writer turned into a politician, is giving the election commission a hard time by asking, “condom” as his election symbol. The election commission on their part however tries to avoid controversies and is asking Sharma to opt in for any other symbol. Sharma however is not planning to have a change of mind over his election symbol because his election agenda is targeted towards the HIV/Aids awareness and sex workers rights etc.

From the awareness point of view, after all, what’s the use of all the Tv. commercials talking of condoms in the open if in real life such things have to be ignored so badly? I think the election commission should establish an example here and allow the candidate his desired symbol of condom. I would personally be very disappointed if he is forced to take any other symbol, since this condom symbol is not even taken by anyone. There is no legal obstacle too, no reason at all not to allow the guy to have this particular symbol.

Apparently, Sharma has written to chief election commissioner and is ready to take legal advice on the issue.

Anand Prakash Sharma – the candidate should be called “Condom Man”, and he can start using http://www.sendsomerubber.com/ and on facebook he can use the application http://apps.facebook.com/findyourrubber/ to connect with his hyper active new potential younger crowd to get them to vote.. and it would be hilarious to see “Vote for Condom”, “Condom Man hamara Neta Hai” on these pop sites!
