Maruti Suzuki Eeco – The Versa Replacement

Maruti Suzuki India launched a new car with the name of Eeco which looks a lot like the versa. The Eeco is a 1200 cc family vehicle with 5 seats and 7 seats option. The price range of Eeco at the moment is set at Rs 2.59 Lakh and 2.89 Lakh. It is made by Maruti Suzuki India especially for the Indian market. The company has also plans to launch an electric alternative to the current petrol option; it will be named as Eco Charge.

I personally never liked the versa, the design was too odd, and for obvious reasons it never did well. This particular model Eeco (I wish they had just named it Eco, wonder why they need to add an extra E anyway,) is very like the versa and thus it failed to interest me from the design point of view. However, 1200 cc engine sounds good; it’s more powerful than the alto 800 and the Zen 1000cc and looks like it’s cheaper than both. However the extra power does come with a dip in the mileage which will be about 13 to 16 KMPH. I just wish they had given the power windows but unfortunately they decided against it.

Also, a diesel version of it would have been a good idea, but since they already mentioned about the electric model, I doubt that a diesel model of it will ever come out. Apparently they have already stopped the production of versa so it’s an official replacement of the said vehicle.
