Famous place at Bangalore for having a gala south Indian food be it idli, dosa in the morning, snacks in the evening but the great part is the south Indian meals at the lunch and dinner. The place is situated near lalbagh main gate and is situated in the heart of the city but a must visit for all those who have liking towards special south Indian meal but can also be tried by those who haven’t developed a taste for a gala south Indian meal. There are strict timing rules and if one is late then there is some difficulty due to some demand. So people visiting the place need to go at proper lunch timings.
The meal is altogether too good with so many varieties that one cannot stay away from licking his fingers. Great combination of everything. One needs to take coupon for the line and it hardly takes much time for the start and the patience of waiting if any due to crowd is worth it. There are huge crowd of hosts to serve the food who are gracious enough to treat the guests as royal and luxury. The cost per meal is Rs 120/- per meal.
Now some details of the items being served. The way of serving and the food combination is great. There are no less than around 20 or something items. At the start there is grape juice served which is good to start with. There is a salad containing the typical south Indian touch with mung and other ingredients. The delicious chatni made with nariyal are among the other things to come. There is besibelle bhat served with raita filled with onion and it’s simply great. There is curd rice which is to be consumed with the tasty ‘aam ka achar.’ Puri is also served for all those who does not like rice that much. Then there is roti filled with nariyal ki chakki and that is awesome. There is some rabri sort of stuff for all those sweet lovers. There was saagu, rasam, sambhar. There is rice, which can be enjoyed by sambhar, rasam. There is also scope for some well-fried chips. In the end they give you the surprise of the meal with vanilla in the fruits such as cherry, apple, chiku, pineapple and few more fruits. The meal gets completed with pan. Few more items can be served like dosas also.
The food at MTR is simply awesome and very enjoyable not only for the south Indians but others too. So all those who are staying up in Bangalore or on their visit can reach the place. MTR had a great meal but other time snacks are also equally good. One better thing is its easily reachable; there is lot of cleanliness and huge varieties and opportunities to enjoy.
After having the lunch, one can easily chill out at Lalbagh, which is the real beauty of the city with great environment for nature lovers and good for health reasons. There are many things to look at apart from the trees that one sees in every park. Its huge spread as big as 240 acre. It contains many special sections such as huge rock, temple, beautiful lake, Rose section, Dwarf section and a lot more. To travel it completely one needs a lot of time around 2 hours. So after eating out at MTR one can easily hang out at Lalbagh. No doubt it’s a must stop for all those who want to try something good.

I had a dinner at MTR. MTR food is extremely costly suprisingly the food was absolute nonsense & more surprisingly after i had my dinner I saw people waiting in a queue. Actual cost of the food should be 35 Rs but they charge 125 Rs that too for a taselesss meal . overall at MTR food money is wasted.
sorry to hear that samir, our writer really enjoyed his food at MTR, i guess different people, different taste
Mr. Samir,
looks like you are a taste less guy. I have taken foreigners & they have enjoyed to core. Hence my advice to you is to consult a doctor.
