The natural state of our blood is that there should be more red blood cells in our blood than white blood cells. When this happen, there is a tremendous impact on our health. This can even cause our mortality if not avoided and checked. The rule of thumb regarding the proportion of red blood cells vis-à-vis white blood cells is that the former should be the dominating cells. If the latter dominated the blood system, then there is an anomaly there, which should be taken seriously. This may cause an illness, which is severe: Leukemia. For ordinary person, he should be educated about this and should know the symptoms of leukemia.

There are many symptoms of this illness and some can even be mistaken for something else than leukemia. Nevertheless, the list goes on like this:

  • Fever, Chills, Flu-like Symptoms – these are early symptoms of leukemia. One suddenly may feel ill like having a fever, chill and flu-like symptoms. This may be construed as a common health issue that can be remedied by over-the-counter medications. But this state would go on indefinitely.
  • Paleness – because the white blood cells is more dominant than the white cells, an individual would appear pale.
  • Weakness – a person may experience or notice that he gets weaker than usual. Any physical activity more quickly drains him of his energy leaving him panting for his breath.
  • Fatigue – though one is not doing anything, fatigue sets in as if he had done a lot of chore in the house for hours.
  • Bleeding and bruising easily – one begins to experience physical vulnerability by being easily bruised would bleed. It common then that person with leukemia have unhealed bruises in their arms cause from only a simple bump on the wall or door.

These are just some of the common symptoms of leukemia. The list is long. Nevertheless, if you happen to experience this, go and have a consultation with your general physician.
